13 Years. Two Instruments. A Distinction That Speaks for Itself.

Passing the ABRSM Singing Grade 8 examination is never easy.

Achieving a Distinction is even more challenging.

Ms Jin Loh is deeply proud to announce that her student, Dr. Imran, has achieved Distinction in his recent 2025 ABRSM (UK) Grade 8 Singing Musical Theatre exam — a result that reflects not only musical excellence, but an extraordinary long-term journey.

In 2026, Dr. Imran will mark his 13th consecutive year of study with Ms Jin Loh.

Thirteen years — Lessons continued through the MCO lockdown.

Lessons continued throughout five demanding years of medical school.

Dr. Imran began learning with Ms Jin Loh as a young boy after his whole family moved from London (UK), to Malaysia.

He first studied cello under Ms Jin Loh, progressing through the ABRSM pathway and passed his ABRSM Cello Exam till Grade 8.

Years later, he chose to take on a second instrument — singing — starting again from beginner level under Ms Jin Loh, and now completing Grade 8 with Distinction.

All this while studying medicine.

All this while becoming the medical doctor whom patients now respectfully address in hospital corridors.

Throughout his medical studies and training, Dr. Imran continue to attend two hours of music lessons, weekly, with Ms Jin Loh for two instruments (singing and cello).

When examinations required adjustment, lessons were responsibly rescheduled — but he never disappeared for months, never stopped learning, and never allowed academic pressure to become an excuse.

Many believe that a busy semester, a small exam, or academic stress means music must be put on hold.

Dr. Imran’s journey quietly proves otherwise.

With thoughtful time management, discipline, and genuine love for music, it is possible to excel academically and artistically — even at high levels.

This Distinction is not merely an examination result.

It is the outcome of 13 years of consistency, commitment, and passion.

Ms Jin Loh is deeply grateful to have witnessed Dr. Imran’s growth — from a young boy in lessons, to a respected doctor, and now, a musician who has reached the ABRSM (UK) Grade 8 level with Distinction.

A quiet achievement.

A powerful example.

A journey that speaks for itself.
